Turku and the archipelago gateway
Turku is Finland's ferry door to Sweden and the land gateway to the Archipelago Sea, but the archipelago's own free ferries start well outside the city, at Pargas and Nagu, not at Turku's own harbour.

11 ways of moving, each with its rule
We confirmed ten ways of moving to, from or around Turku: six by water, two by road, one under your own steam and one by rail and cable, from 13 sources. One entry is not a service at all but a rule that decides whether travel happens: a permit, a closure, a border, a season or an authority's say-so. One of them runs only on demand or when the seats are full, so there is no timetable to show; the rule is written where the timetable would be.
The fares were seen in 2022 to 2026; a fare from an older year is a floor, not a price. We rate 6 of the 11 high confidence, our own judgement of the sources. The entry was checked on 29 September 2026, and ends with five things we could not confirm.

What we could not find out
5 things the researcher looked for and did not find, in their own words, with where to ask instead. None of this goes into the planner; it stays here until someone confirms it.
- 01
Viking Line and Tallink Silja adult fares for the Åland-stop route were not independently confirmed on this pass with a dated figure; check vikingline.com and tallinksilja.com directly.
- 02
Finferries' open booking API (booking.finferries.fi/wp-json/finferries/v1/tour/search) needs both a from and to harbour id and passenger counts, and returned an empty result for the archipelago pairs probed here (4233/4226) on several dates in 2026 - either those two ids are not directly connected in the current timetable or the search window has narrowed; the harbor/list endpoint itself is confirmed live and lists every stop.
- 03
Exact fares and frequencies for the 801-802 and 901-904 Varely archipelago bus lines were not confirmed beyond the raw Mattersoft timetable JSON; ask Föli or the driver for the current price.
- 04
The Föli water bus to Ruissalo frequency and season above are Wikivoyage's 2022 figures; the 2026 timetable was not independently checked.
- 05
Cycling route details (Ruissalo, Naantali, archipelago) and the seasonal closures on parts of the archipelago ring road were not confirmed with a dated source beyond Wikivoyage's general route list.
What the planner can route today
The options above live on the place page, not in the departure board: a boat that comes when you phone has no time to show. What the board can do for Turku is this.
