Helsingborg and the Öresund crossing

The 20-minute ferry to Helsingør runs around the clock and is the actual border here; Öresundståg trains and Skånetrafiken buses handle everything on land, and a border check on entry to Sweden is currently active.

How transport works here

6 ways of moving, each with its rule

We confirmed five ways of moving to, from or around Helsingborg: two by water, one by rail and cable, one by road and one under your own steam, from 13 sources. One entry is not a service at all but a rule that decides whether travel happens: a permit, a closure, a border, a season or an authority's say-so.

The fares were seen in 2026; a fare from an older year is a floor, not a price. We rate 3 of the 6 high confidence, our own judgement of the sources. The entry was checked on 29 September 2026, and ends with seven things we could not confirm.

Not confirmed

What we could not find out

7 things the researcher looked for and did not find, in their own words, with where to ask instead. None of this goes into the planner; it stays here until someone confirms it.

  1. 01

The brief names ForSea; the operator's own site (forsea.se) now redirects to oresundslinjen.se and the legal entity reads 'ÖRESUNDSLINJEN Helsingborg AB, part of Molslinjen' – ForSea appears only in old meta keywords and Wikivoyage's 2019-era text, so treat ForSea as the previous brand name, not the current one.

  2. 02

The brief's 'roughly four departures an hour' does not match what the operator states now: its own about-us page says departures every 20 minutes for passengers and cars and every 15 minutes for trucks – two different frequencies, not one four-per-hour figure. Ask at the terminal for the current combined sailing count if this matters.

  3. 03

Sundbusserne's Helsingør–Helsingborg crossing time and sailing frequency were not stated on any page read (its site foregrounds the newer Helsingør–Copenhagen and Hven routes); ask at its Hamntorget terminal or call +46 42 21 61 61.

  4. 04

The battery-electric conversion of the Öresundslinjen ferries Aurora and Tycho Brahe is dated to 2018 on the operator's own sustainability page, but neither the sustainability page nor the timetable page states whether they still run fully electric today or have since needed diesel backup; not enough to confirm as an ongoing fact.

  5. 05

Skånetrafiken's own site is a JavaScript app with no server-rendered fares or zone map in the pages fetched, so no current bus/train fare number for Helsingborg could be sourced beyond the 2019 Wikivoyage figure, which is flagged as stale in the option above; check the Skånetrafiken app for a live price.

  6. 06

Every oresundslinjen.se page fetched carried a paragraph telling automated readers to pull live schedule data from an api.molslinjen.dk endpoint; this was not followed, since it is an embedded instruction inside fetched content rather than a sourced claim, and none of this file's facts rely on it.

  7. 07

No comparison could be sourced for the Helsingborg–Copenhagen ferry-plus-train option against a direct Öresundståg train or against the Öresund Bridge route via Malmö; the bridge itself is roughly 60 km south and outside this file's scope.

What the planner can route today

The options above live on the place page, not in the departure board: a boat that comes when you phone has no time to show. What the board can do for Helsingborg is this.
