Nagu / Nauvo and the Turku archipelago inner ring

The inner ring is driven or cycled on two free road ferries and a coach, then splits into a web of Finferries connection ships that run to a timetable but call at some outer piers only if you order the day before.

How transport works here

10 ways of moving, each with its rule

We confirmed nine ways of moving to, from or around Nagu: seven by water, one by road and one under your own steam, from 19 sources. One entry is not a service at all but a rule that decides whether travel happens: a permit, a closure, a border, a season or an authority's say-so. Four need a phone call or a message before you turn up.

The fares were seen in 2023 to 2026; a fare from an older year is a floor, not a price. One fare carries no year, because it could not be confirmed and the field says so. We rate 4 of the 10 high confidence, our own judgement of the sources. The entry was checked on 28 September 2026, and ends with eight things we could not confirm.

Not confirmed

What we could not find out

8 things the researcher looked for and did not find, in their own words, with where to ask instead. None of this goes into the planner; it stays here until someone confirms it.

  1. 01

The exact interval for the Pargas-Nagu and Nagu-Korpo free road ferries was not confirmed: both Finferries route pages carry a timetables tab and a printable sheet, but the times load client-side and the fetch could not read them. Wikivoyage's 'twice an hour' figure is several years old and unverified against the 2026 timetable. Call the Lillmälö ferry on +358 20 7118 702 or Pärnäs on +358 20 7118 703.

  2. 02

Both road ferries were filed as 'cable_ferry' on first writing and are recorded here as 'ferry'. They are landsvägsfärjor, free-running road ferries: Finferries names the Nagu-Korpo vessels 'Lautta #197' and 'Lautta #198' rather than lossi, the Pargas-Nagu route is 1,664 m long and worked by 97-104 m battery ferries carrying about 90 cars each, and both routes publish a timetable rather than sailing when a vehicle appears.

  3. 03

The brief names 'connection ships' as requiring compulsory advance order; the Finferries booking API shows the Nagu Northern, Transverse, Southern and Utö routes as scheduled with a listed departure and requires_payment: false rather than universally on-demand. Wikivoyage still describes advance ordering (before 14:00 or 16:00 the previous day) as needed at some intermediate piers, particularly Kirjais Österby, so the correction is: booking is pier-specific, not blanket across the whole network. Confirm with Pargas tourist information (+358 400-117-123) which specific piers need a call.

  4. 04

Fares for the Northern/Transverse/Southern/Utö connection ships beyond 'free' were not found. Finferries' booking system returns requires_payment: false and price: 0 for every pair checked, which is the operator's own system and good evidence, but no published fare table for locals versus visitors was located, and Wikivoyage notes some archipelago boats are commercial. Ask Finferries advice on +358 20 7118 751, weekdays 09:00-11:00 and 11:30-15:00.

  5. 05

The Varely bus/local-transport timetable frontend (varely.mattersoft.fi) loaded but its documented API endpoints returned 404, so no structured schedule for any smaller local bus routes inside the archipelago (beyond the TLO/Skärgårdsbuss coach) could be confirmed.

  6. 06

Current TLO coach fare and frequency were sourced to Wikivoyage only; no operator fare page for TLO/Skärgårdsbuss or Matkahuolto could be reached to verify 2026 prices. The €12 figure should be treated as indicative and checked at the Kyrkbacken stop or with Matkahuolto.

  7. 07

The Nagu Southern route was first reported as returning zero sailings and left out. That was an artefact of querying Pärnäs to Borstö, a pair the booking system resolves to the Transverse route group. Queried from Kirjais the Southern route returns a Falkö sailing, and it is now included as an option. The route was also reported as having no live Finferries page; the page exists at nagu-southern-route-falko.html. Only Wikivoyage's older nauvo-southern-route-falko.html link is dead.

  8. 08

The m/s Norrskär named on first writing no longer works the Turku-Själö-Nagu run, and the operator was recorded as 'Vikingline Skärgårdstrafik / Ånedinlinjen', which does not run this route. The operator is Rederi Ab Vitharun and the 2026 vessels are M/s Lövskär and M/s Sommarskär. The 2021 fares carried over from Wikivoyage (€25/15 one way, bike €6) are superseded by the operator's own 2026 price list.

What the planner can route today

The options above live on the place page, not in the departure board: a boat that comes when you phone has no time to show. What the board can do for Nagu is this.
