Mykonos
Nearly everyone arrives by ferry from Piraeus or Rafina or by air, then a small bus network, scarce taxis and hired scooters and quads cover an island most of which shuts down for winter.

12 ways of moving, each with its rule
We confirmed nine ways of moving to, from or around Mykonos: five by water, one by road, one hired or on demand, one under your own steam and one by air, from 23 sources. Three entries are not a service at all but a rule that decides whether travel happens: a permit, a closure, a border, a season or an authority's say-so. One of them runs only on demand or when the seats are full, so there is no timetable to show; the rule is written where the timetable would be. Two need a phone call or a message before you turn up.
The fares were seen in 2025 to 2026; a fare from an older year is a floor, not a price. We rate 9 of the 12 high confidence, our own judgement of the sources. The entry was checked on 28 September 2026, and ends with seven things we could not confirm.

What we could not find out
7 things the researcher looked for and did not find, in their own words, with where to ask instead. None of this goes into the planner; it stays here until someone confirms it.
- 01
The brief calls the island bus operator 'KTEL' – it is actually Mykonos' own municipal bus company (branded Mykonos Bus / KTEL Mykonos on some pages), not the mainland intercity KTEL network; corrected above.
- 02
No current fare could be confirmed for the Mykonos Town public bus or for scooter, quad and car hire; operator pages for Seajets, Golden Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways and local rental agencies either 404'd or carried no visible tariff at the time of research. Ask at the port ticket office or rental counter for the current price. The Piraeus–Mykonos fares above come from Wikivoyage, not from an operator tariff page.
- 03
The Piraeus operator and vessel names (Blue Star Ithaki, Hellenic Seaways Highspeed 5 and 6, Seajets SuperJet) come from an undated Wikivoyage operator list on which the Seajets link is already marked dead since 2023; no 2026 operator timetable was fetched to confirm which company runs which vessel this season. Check each operator's own sailing list before relying on the names.
- 04
Could not independently confirm an accident rate for scooters and quads; Google News turned up a 2025 report of a foreign CEO airlifted after a Mykonos ATV crash and a 2020 eKathimerini piece on quad-bike safety concerns on the islands, but neither article resolved to a fetchable publisher URL in this session, so no figure or claim from them is included here.
- 05
Sea taxi note in the brief matches the operating SeaBus/water-taxi service between the two ports, not a dedicated sea-taxi run out to Platis Gialos and the southern beaches as such; the actual southern-beach boats run from Platys Gialos and Ornos jetties, covered above.
- 06
Could not confirm current KTEL/Mykonos Bus fares in euros from the operator's own site; ask at the ticket window at either bus station.
- 07
Meltemi-specific cancellation patterns for conventional versus high-speed vessels could not be confirmed from an operator or port-authority source; Wikivoyage notes only that the southern-beach boats can be cancelled for strong wind.
What the planner can route today
The options above live on the place page, not in the departure board: a boat that comes when you phone has no time to show. What the board can do for Mykonos is this.
