Abuja
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria, strategically situated at the geographic midpoint of the country within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
As the seat of the Federal Government of Nigeria, it hosts key national institutions, landmarks, and buildings spread across its over 50 districts. It replaced Lagos as the capital on 12 December 1991.
Getting to Abuja

Several airlines offer international flights, notably Lufthansa, KLM, British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.
Worth seeing
Abuja is a beautiful city. The tourist attractions are:
- 01Aso Rock
A 400m monolith and the city's most noticeable feature.
- 02Millennium Tower
Topped out in 2015, this 160-m tower is quite amazing.
- 03National Mosque
Built in 1984, open to non-Muslims except during prayer.
- 04National Church of Nigeria
A large inter-denominational church built in a neo-Gothic style.
- 05National Assembly Complex
- 06Millennium Park
A large recreational park which serves as the main getaway for residents.

- 02National Children's Park and Zoo Abuja
- 03Usuma Lower Dam
This is a place for some good hiking trails around more of those rock domes with the Kubwa Abuja Reservoir in the background.
- 04IBB International Golf & Country Club
Said to be one of the best golf courses in the country, with lots of great views.

Where to eat
Food prices in Abuja are high, especially for Western food. There are, however, many good restaurants in Abuja that are worth the money. Of course, whether you live in Abuja or are just visiting, there are times when you are willing to pay a little extra for the simple fact that there are few to no alternatives.

Getting around Abuja the local way
- Get inTake day trip buses from wherever you are coming from in the country because part of the interstate roads are not maintained and full of potholes.
