in the Kannur district, located in the Indian state of Kerala. It is also the smallest panchayat in Kerala with an area of 2.04 km2 (0.79 sq mi). It is located about 7 km (4.3 mi) north of Kannur towards Taliparamba. Valapattanam is known for its communal harmony. On one side is Kalarivathukkal Temple and on the other bank there is "Kakkulangara Mosque".
