Saint James District
Saint James District is a national historic district located at St.
James in Smithtown Town, Suffolk County, New York. The district includes 21 contributing buildings, two contributing sites, and one contributing structure. Prominent buildings within the district are the Timothy Smith House and dependencies, "Deepwells" (1845–47) and dependencies, St. James Episcopal Church and dependencies, the St. James Railroad Station, and St. James General Store. The newest structure, the 1922-built Saint James Fire Department was also included in the district, but was modernized in recent decades.
Getting around Saint James District the local way
- Get inFerry services from Connecticut, Rhode Island and Block Island The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson Steamboat Company service from Bridgeport for passengers, motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, and trailers.
- Get inCross Sound Ferry service from New London for passengers, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, campers, and trailers.
- Get inViking Fleet Ferry from Block Island for passengers only and bicycles and surfboards are accommodated, no cars.
- Get inFerry services to Shelter Island are unavailable during late night, so always check their schedules.
- Get inNorth Ferry Company is available year-round and allows passengers, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks, and commercial vehicles.
- Get inFerry services to Fire Island Davis Park Ferry does not allow vehicles and is available from March to September.
- Get inFire Island Ferries does not allow vehicles and has limited services year-round weather permitting.
- Get inSayville Ferry Service does not allow vehicles and is available April to November (May to October to and from Sunken Forest).
