Port Royal
Port Royal is a small town located at the end of the Palisadoes, at the mouth of Kingston Harbour, in southeastern Jamaica.
Getting to Port Royal
Since 1992, there has been no passenger rail traffic to Kingston.

- 01Devon House
One of the best example of Jamaican architecture, the Devon House was built by George Stiebel, the nation's first black millionaire.

The museum features artwork by Jamaicans from throughout its history, from the native Taino Indians through the colonial period to works by modern artists.
- 03Gordon House
The seat of the Jamaican upper and lower houses, parliament and legislature.

The massive white and blue theatre building north of the William Grant Park is definitely an eyecatcher.
- 06University of the West Indies
This university was established in 1948 on the grounds of the former Mona and Papine sugar plantations.

Where to eat
Restaurants usually serve only Jamaican food, though eating out is usually affordable. If you fancy something else, there are some Indian restaurants and a few more Chinese restaurants. Jerk, curried, fricasséed or brown stew chicken, pork or fish Escoveitch fish—Warning, spicy!

Getting around Port Royal the local way
- Get aroundThere are also minibuses and route taxis which are very affordable.
- Get aroundCharter Taxis (normal taxis) - negotiate a price before getting in the car.
- Go nextOcho Rios ("Ochi") - only 4 hours away by minibus/route taxi for ~J$500.
- Go nextPort Antonio - take a direct minibus/route taxi from HWT for J$200–300.
