
Milnrow
Milnrow is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England.
It lies on the River Beal at the foothills of the South Pennines, and forms a continuous urban area with Rochdale. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Rochdale town centre, 10 miles (16.1 km) north-northeast of Manchester, and spans from Windy Hill in the east to the Rochdale Canal in the west. Milnrow is adjacent to junction 21 of the M62 motorway, and includes the village of Newhey, and hamlets at Tunshill and Ogden.
Getting to Milnrow
Manchester Airport (MAN IATA) has frequent trains to central Manchester. Pick a train that continues beyond Piccadilly to Victoria, where you change for the train or tram to Rochdale as below. You can ride the tram all the way from the airport and change trams at Deansgate, but that's much slower for scant fare saving. Trains from Manchester Victoria run to Rochdale every 10 min, taking 15-20 min.

When opened in 1841, it was the world's longest railway tunnel, at 2885 yards (2638 m).
Things to do
Cinema: Reel Cinema is in Riverside Retail Centre Odeon is west side of town in Sandbrook Park. Theatre: Curtain Theatre is at 47 Milkstone Rd, 100 yards west of the railway station. Rochdale Leisure Centre is on Entwisle Rd. It has a fitness centre and swimming pool. Football: Rochdale AFC were promoted in 2026 and now play soccer in League Two, the fourth tier.
