Mashiki
Mashiki is a town located in Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
As of 31 August 2024, the town had an estimated population of 34,118 in 14,750 households, and a population density of 520 persons per km2. The total area of the town is 65.68 km2 (25.36 sq mi). Kumamoto Airport is located in Mashiki.

Getting around Mashiki the local way
- Get inIf you're coming from Nagasaki, the ferry may be preferable.
- Get inOne ferry route involves travelling via Shimabara.
- Get inTwo ferries depart towards Kumamoto from different ports along this line but the most convenient is likely the one from Shimabara Port direct to Kumamoto Port.
- Get inIncidentally, the final Kumamoto-bound ferries depart daily at 20:00, but one of the trains to Shimabara arrives a few minutes after that so don't get caught out.
- Go nextAmakusa, a chain of islands off the west coast of Kumamoto, and not far from the south coast of Nagasaki (to which ferries run regularly).
- Go nextUnzen, Nagasaki- you can take the express ferry from Kumamoto Port and be there in 30 minutes.
