Maoming

Maoming, alternately romanized as Mowming, is a prefecture-level city located in southwestern Guangdong province, China.

Facing the South China Sea to the city's south, Maoming borders Zhanjiang to the west, Yangjiang to the east, and Yunfu to the northeast, and is 362 kilometers (225 mi) from the province's capital Guangzhou and 121 kilometers (75 mi) from Zhanjiang. The Maoming Port is a Grade I port that handled 16.8 million tons of cargo in 2007. Refined oil and aquatic products are the major export products from the city. Major export destinations include Hong Kong, Macao and ASEAN member nations.

Getting to Maoming

There is no airport in Maoming. The nearest airport to Maoming is Zhanjiang Wuchuan International Airport, where there are direct buses to Maoming. You can also go to the airport in Guangzhou and then take a train or bus to Maoming. There are two major train stations in Maoming: Maoming Railway Station. The main local station, located in the city center.

Where to eat

Eateries in Maoming mainly serve Cantonese cuisine, but the city also has some unique delicacies of its own: Claypot Rice Noodles(沙煲粉): A common snack in Maoming, it's mainly made of rice noodles, with bean sprouts, peanuts, cabbage, etc. Shiguanzui(食惯嘴): A kind of rice noodle skin from Maoming, it's thin, smooth, soft and chewy and very delicious.
