Long Island City

Long Island City (LIC) is a neighborhood within the New York City borough of Queens.

It is bordered by Astoria to the north; the East River to the west; Sunnyside to the east; and Newtown Creek, which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to the south. Its name refers to its location on the western tip of Long Island.

Getting to Long Island City

Get to the heart of Long Island City by taking the E M or R trains to Queens Plaza, the N W or 7 to Queensboro Plaza, the E G M or 7 to Court Square, or the 7 to Hunters Point Avenue. Get to the busiest parts of Astoria by taking the N or W train to Broadway, 30th Avenue or Ditmars Boulevard, or the M or R train to Steinway Street.

Getting around Long Island City the local way

  • Get inLimited ferry service is available at the Yorkville NYC Ferry stop at East 90th Street and York Avenue within Carl Schurz Park.
  • Get inThe Soundview ferry provides service every 30 to 35 minutes during rush hours, every hour during middays and evenings, and every hour and a 40 minutes on weekends.
  • Get inThe Soundview ferry runs from Soundview in the Bronx, a riverside residential neighborhood, and travels down the East River, providing service to Yorkville along with service at the East 34th Street Ferry Landing in Gramercy and Pier 11 at Wall Street in the Financial District, where you can connect to a variety of other ferry services throughout the city.
  • Get inAn adult one-way ticket on the ferry costs $4.50, while a 10-trip adult pass costs $29.Bringing a bike, which is certainly an option with the extensive bike paths in the neighborhood, brings a $1.00 surcharge.
