Kuala Kedah

Kuala Kedah is a mukim and parliamentary constituency in Kota Setar District, Kedah, Malaysia.

It is a fishing port, located at the mouth of the Kedah River, and serves as a terminus for ferries to the tourist island of Langkawi. It is home to a fort, Kota Kuala Kedah. Kuala Kedah is accessible by bus or taxi from Alor Setar.

Getting to Kuala Kedah

Ferries to Langkawi leave every 1.5-2 hours, the last service is at 7:00PM, a one-way ticket costs RM45 for (adult) foreigners (2025). Ferries arrive to Kuala Kedah Jetty Terminal, from where you can take taxis in all directions. The taxi fare to Butterworth (Penang) is RM 47 (2010). With a bit of luck, you can share a taxi with other passengers.
