Kalady

Kalady or Kaladi is a town located between Angamaly and Perumbavoor, east of the Periyar River, near Malayattoor in Ernakulam district of Kerala, India.

The town is not far from Cochin International Airport. It is notable as the birthplace of 9th century Indian philosopher Adi Shankara.

Getting to Kalady

Kalady is located in Main Central road (MC Road) which connects Angamaly and Thiruvananthapuram. Kalady is located 8Kms away from Angamaly. MC road is starting from Angamaly. Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery is the nearest airport just 10 km away from Kalady. Angamaly (8 km away), or Aluva (15 km away), are the nearest railway stations which are connected to major Indian cities.

Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram The Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram not far from the Sri Krishna temple, has a spacious prayer hall and a beautiful shrine modelled on the Sri Ramakrishna temple at Belur Math. The white marble statue of Sri Ramakrsihna seems to be the very epitome of tranquillity. The Ashram also runs a school, charitable dispensary and library.

There are a lot of hotels available in the town serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Aryas, Near Bus Station. K K Towers, Near University (Malayattoor Road). One of the best stay offered in kalady. 250-800. Lakshmibhavan, Kalady Junction. Vegetarian Sangeetha, Kalady Junction.
