Jiujiang

Jiujiang, formerly transliterated Kiukiang and Kew-Keang, is a prefecture-level city located on the southern shores of the Yangtze River in northwest Jiangxi Province in the People's Republic of China.

It is the second-largest prefecture-level city in Jiangxi and its borders include Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China. Jiujiang is the fourth largest port on the Yangtze River and was one of the first five cities that were opened to foreign trade along the Yangtze River following the implementation of Deng Xiaoping's Opening-Up Policy. It is Jiangxi's only international trade port city.

Osmanthus tea cake is a traditional Han nationality spot in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province.Osmanthus tea cake is golden yellow, thin as paper, with "small and fine, thin and crisp, crisp and sweet, fragrant and beautiful" characteristics. Jiujiang cuisine (九江炒粉). reflects the flavors of northern Jiangxi, with influences from Poyang Lake and Mount Lushan.

Getting around Jiujiang the local way

  • Get inThere is a cable car going straight to Lushan.
  • Get inTo arrive to the cable car station there is the bus 57 from Jiujiang (九江) train station(cost ¥3).
  • Get inLushan train station is really close to the cable car.
  • Get inIf you do get to Lushan Railway Station in error, it is possible to transfer to Jiujiang Intercity bus station by minivan.
  • Get inThe stone path now climbs through the valley, up, ever up through a spectacular gorge to the Three Step Waterfall, where suddenly it's like Disneyland in the mountains with duck shaped watercraft in the bottom pond to the waterfall, kiosks and masses of people, who have descended by foot to this spectacular spot from the top cable car station high above.
