The village lies close to the borders with Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, 12 miles (20 km) south of Cambridge and equidistant [6 miles (10 km)] between the two medieval market towns of Saffron Walden and Royston. At the 2021 census the parish had a population of 577.
