Bayeux is a commune in the Calvados department in Normandy in northwestern France.
Getting to Bayeux

Trains run every couple of hours from Paris Saint-Lazare via Caen, taking 2 hr 20 to Bayeux, and continuing to Lison, Carentan, Valognes and Cherbourg.

Where to eat
Food can be procured for as little or as much as you wish: the main boulevard through town is lined with boulangeries and even a supermarket near the south end of town. Le Marsala - Pizzeria-Grill Restaurant, rue des Cuisiniers,. Great pizzas at a reasonable price, friendly service. Le Petit Bistrot, 2, rue du bienvenu,. closed Wed.
Getting around Bayeux the local way
- Get inAlternatively, a ferry across the channel will take you in just over three hours from Portsmouth to Ouistreham, the easternmost D-Day target, an ideal starting point.
- Get inOther ferries go to Cherbourg and Le Havre, nearby though not in the actual landing area.
