Arkhangel’sk
Arkhangelsk, historically called in English Archangel and later Archangelsk, is the administrative center and largest city of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia.
It lies on both banks of the Northern Dvina River, near its mouth into the White Sea. The city spreads for over 40 kilometres (25 mi) along the banks of the river and numerous islands of its delta. Arkhangelsk was the chief seaport of medieval and early modern Russia until 1703, when it was replaced by the newly founded Saint Petersburg.

Arkhangelsk is the theme of the Russian 500-ruble banknote, and walking through the embankment you can find all the sites printed on it.
- 02Wooden Arkhangelsk
Wooden buildings are being gradually moved out of the city, but still Arkhangelsk contains many sections of such 1- to 2-floor houses.

Northern Dvina's delta is full of flat islands, several of them form parts of Arkhangelsk, and Solombala is the most known of such parts.
