   De Cruquius Pumping Station

   The Museum De Cruquius occupies the old Cruquius steam pumping station in Cruquius, the Netherlands. It derives its name from Nicolaas Kruik, a Dutch land-surveyor and one of many promoters of a plan to pump the Haarlemmermeer dry.

   The Greenbox Museum, officially known as the Greenbox Museum of Contemporary Art from Saudi Arabia, was a museum in Amsterdam from 2008 to 2021. Since 2021, the museum has been located in Hoofddorp, where it is open by appointment.

Hoofddorp has many yearly events, which are listed by season underneath. Apart from this there are new events or one-time events, which will be promoted using posters in the centre. It is known that many events are not announced very widely, so it's always a surprise when the whole centre is busy again.

Where to eat

Only places to go are some restaurants (which close about 22:00). Outside the city centre next to the highway A4 lays the McDonald's: McDonald's (McDonald's Hoofddorp/A4), Vuursteen 5 (bus line 300 or 310 from Schiphol, stop 'De Hoek'),. 07:00-03:00, McDrive open all night during the weekend. Always crowded with travelers from Schiphol, businessmen, families or at night youth that needs some food after going out.
