The neighboring parts of the city are Messukylä, Ristinarkku, Linnainmaa, Vehmainen, Haihara, Kaukajärvi and Viiala. The Hankkio district is bordered on the south by the Kangasalantie road and on the north by the Tampere–Haapamäki railway.
