The place

Elenthikara is a small village in Puthanvelikkara Panchayath, Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam district, Keralam, India. The Chalakudy River merges with the Periyar River at Elenthikara. Following confluence, the hydraulic network discharges directly into the Kottapuram lagoon. Surrounded by dense tropical flora and vast riparian agricultural plains, the area's historical economic architecture relies predominantly on the exploitation of natural resources via agro-extractive and inland fishing industries. The village is situated in the road connecting Paravur with Mala, Thrissur. The structural introduction of the Station Kadavu–Valiapazhampillithuruthu Bridge resolved geographic bottlenecks by linking isolated riverine pockets directly to mainland Ernakulam, thereby yielding measurable advancements in regional network resilience and transit efficiency. The nearest town is North Paravur. Early inhabitants of this place worshipped "Ilaya Nandhi" or "Ilaya Bhagavati". So this place was known as Elenthikara.
