- 01Collins Settlement Site
The Collins settlement site, also known as the 1803 Collins settlement site, is a colonial settlement and archaeological site, located on Point Nepean Road, one kilometre east of Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula, approximately 60 kilometres due south of Melbourne, in its south eastern suburbs, in Victoria, Australia. Located on the traditional land of the Bunerong Bulak people, the Sullivan Bay site of initially 100 hectares was the first permanent colonial settlement in the area – that pre-dates the settlement of Melbourne – and lasted for a mere 217 days before the site was abandoned.
