Tver is a city and the administrative centre of Tver Oblast, Russia. It is situated at the confluence of the Volga and Tvertsa rivers. Tver is located 180 kilometres (110 mi) northwest of Moscow. Population: 416,216 (2021 census).

Maksimovich as the Tver Women's Teachers' School, which in June 1917 was transformed by order of the Minister of Public Education into the Tver Teachers' Institute.

Things to do
Tver is an old Russian city, but most of its architecture didn't survive the war and economic crisis of the 1990s. The city center is completely rebuilt, first by Catherine the Great in the 18th century, then after WWII in 1945. The remnants of old Tver begins from the northern end of Tryokhsvyatskaya street. Tryokhsvyatskaya street is a local version of Moscow's Arbat.

Where to eat
There are several international fast food chains in the city: Vkusno i Tochka (formerly McDonalds), Burger King, Rostic's (formerly KFC) and Subway. Most of them in the main shopping malls' food courts. There is also Russian fast food chain called Chicken House (near the bus and railway stations) and a lot of other local cafes, canteens (called stolovaya in Russian) and restaurants.
