# Mixroutes: get anywhere, by anything

Every way from A to B: train, bus, metro, ferry, flight and cab side by side, from the operators' own timetables, with every price labelled live, operator fare or estimate.

Mixroutes is a free, multi-modal travel planner. Type where you are and where you are going, and it shows every practical way to make the trip in one list: train, bus, metro, ferry, flight, drive and taxi, with door-to-door times, every transfer in minutes, and a fare on every option. Each fare is labelled **live** (the operator told us just now), **operator fare** (from a published fare table) or **estimate** (a range we built from the operator's own rates, and we say so). You then book with the operator; Mixroutes adds nothing to the price.

## How it works

1. **Every way, side by side.** One search compares train, flight, drive, taxi, bus, metro and ferry. Best, fastest and cheapest are labelled. [Try London to Paris](https://www.mixroutes.com/results?from=London&to=Paris).
2. **Every leg, every change.** Open any option for the walk to the station, each vehicle, the wait between them and the arrival time, from the operators' timetables.
3. **Book with the operator.** Each part links to the company that runs it. Ground transport goes straight to the operator; flights and hotels go through Lascade's Flights70 and Hotels70.

## Why it is different

- **Prices that say how sure they are.** Other planners fill gaps with a similar route's price and do not say so. Mixroutes labels every number live, operator fare or estimate.
- **Built for the last mile, not just the airport.** The auto-rickshaw from the station, the bus that only runs on weekdays, the ferry nobody lists.
- **Riders keep it honest.** Anyone can report a late train, a cancellation or a wrong fare on a trip, and the next rider sees it for 48 hours.
- **No markup, no resold tickets.** Bookings happen with the operator.

## Where the data comes from

- Public timetables in GTFS, the open standard transit agencies publish.
- Operator fare tables and published fare slabs, with the source shown on each itinerary.
- OpenStreetMap for places, roads and ferry routes; Wikipedia and Wikivoyage (CC BY-SA) for place descriptions.
- Field research: 177 researched notes on how people actually get around offbeat places in 68 countries, each option with its operator, timings, fare, year of the fare and sources, and what we could not confirm.
